Croatia gets green light to become 20th eurozone member

Eurozone expands for first time since 2015

Finance ministers from the European Union gave final approval for Croatia to adopt the euro in a meeting today (July 12). 

The sign-off means Croatia will introduce the euro on January 1, 2023. The economy will join the single currency at a conversion rate of 7.5345 kuna per euro.

European Central Bank president Christine Legarde participated in a signing ceremony that also included Zdravko Marić, Croatia’s deputy prime minister and finance minister. 

Marić told Politico that despite rising
